ABSTRACT
Samrina. 2005. Estimation the Rate of Erosion at upper Catchments Area of Gowa Regency South Sulawesi.
The aim of this research is to estimation, evaluate to know the rate erosion hazard in upper of catchments area of regency Gowa South Sulawesi. The most of Catchments Tangka area (40,01 %) was used for dry land it’s threaten to land by erosion.
The rate of erosion estimation by using the USLE method of Wischmeier and Smith (1978). The research using of land unit approach, with stratified purposive sampling. the need of data are: slope class, land form, geology, soil, land use, rain erosivity, soil erodibility, slope length and slope gradient, culture management and conservation from by using “C” and “P” value.
The result of this research indicated that erosion level between 6,238 tons/ha/year and 5201,914 tons/ha/year. The most dominant of research area is very high erosion is 550,13 ha (52,39 %). The rate of high erosion hazard in area 194,53 ha (18,53 %) and the very low erosion hazard in area 305,34 ha (29,08 %), two land unit spread on denudation mountain. The rate of permissible erosion are between 13,2 tons/ha/year up to 27,0 tons/ha/year.
